Seattle is famously known as a musically rich city. This is mainly due to the diverse Rock & Roll scene and popularization of many alternative rock subgenres such as Grunge in the late 1990s. This prompted many music venues to open up, lending physical places for the scene to flourish, which now expands well beyond just rock. Popular bands during that time in the 206 include Pearl Jam, Alice in Chain, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and more. Capitol Hill is a neighborhood in Seattle that is home to many of the most iconic venues and clubs in the city.
A diverse area, Capitol Hill has a bubbling nightlife, with many hip bars, modern eateries, boutique cafes, indie stores, and art in the area. Read on to learn about a few of our favorite Capitol Hill music venues.

Chop Suey
Chop Suey is not just one of our favorite venues, but also a favorite of many locals. The venue is a must to catch some live music in Seattle. Concerts range from local rock bands to national hip-hop acts, electronic DJs, and everything in between. Chop Suey is also home to one of Seattle’s most unique dance parties, Talcum. This special night, which happens every fourth Saturday, features the best of PNW soul and Motown music.
Chop Suey also has a small kitchen that is open during events. You can get sandwiches, chips, and other simple pub food.

Barboza
Barboza is another one of our favorite music venues in Capitol Hill, Seattle. This nightclub is located underneath Neumos. It opened in 2012 after previously being utilized as an underused storage room. Even before that, it was a car mechanic shop. Now, the space showcases some of Seattle’s best local bands and artists, as well as some of the hottest buzzing national acts. Additionally, the weekends are often a dance club at Barboza, sometimes featuring their house DJs and other times acclaimed acts. The capacity of this Seattle venue is only 200, making it an incredibly intimate space that almost guarantees an unforgettable experience
